RED SEA DIVING
SAFARI is run by
some remarkable pioneers. Hossam Helmy, the owner, is a lawyer and is the
logistics co-ordinator. He has also dedicated himself and his team to discover
the coastline. They have conducted the most extensive survey of the fringe
reef topography along the 350 km coast between Safaga and Ras Banas. His
team consists of qualified PADI and CMAS instructors and guides of different
nationalities and with
many years of diving experience in the Red Sea,
leading back to the early eighties, when it was still in the beginning
of being discovered for sports-diving. The diving-team can provide their
guests with different languages including English, Dutch, French, German
and of course Arabic. RED SEA DIVING SAFARI has been running for over fifteen
years. During this time it has been constantly reviewed to suit our clients
requirements.
RED SEA DIVING SAFARI runs throughout the year and can be joined
from either Hurghada or Luxor. The first Ecolodge is about 113 km South
of El Quseir at Marsa Shagra. The harbour of El Quseir is about 140 km
South of Hurghada and has a long and varied history. In the times of the
Pharaohs it was a principal trading port and later, pilgrims congregated
there before starting their voyage to Mecca. Today it is a minor port and
fishing village. Leading from Quseir the road follows 140 km of coral reef
coastline to the small harbour of Marsa Alam, which has only a small population.
Each year RED SEA DIVING SRI has expanded Southward along this coral coastline
and so their second Ecolodge is in the secluded Bay of Marsa Nakari, 18
km South of Marsa Alam. This coastline is flanked by vast desert mountain
ranges in which lie the remains of many Pharaonic and Roman quarries
RED SEA DIVING SAFARI has settled now at these three
remote bays where they built their "safari villages": ECOLODGE
SHAGRA VILLAGE ,
ECOLODGE NAKARI VILLAGE and ECOLODGE
WADI LAHAMI VILLAGE which are designed
with the well-being and comfort of the guests in mind. Marsa Shagra is
the main Village, as it is here where the dive centre, classrooms and equipment
are stationed. Shagra also has 24-hour electricity and water desalination.
Nakari, at present, only has electricity at night. Normally you will be
based at Shagra although sometimes you will stay at both locations within
a week to give you access to another house reef. If you stay in one Village
all week you will still cover an extensive
dive territory. The Safari team
are extremely friendly and helpful. Always let us know if you have a birthday
or anniversary coming up, as they love an excuse to organise something
special.
Shagra and Nakari eco-villages are a unique concept, superbly located
to provide the very best diving in this southern area. As a guest you are
completely free to dive at leisure and relax in one of the most peaceful
of environments on the planet.
