Red Sea Diving In Egypt
“The Red Sea has some of the best diving in the world. It is part of the Great Rift Valley: a trough running from Israel to some degrees south of the equator. This immense crack in the Earth's surface makes for an extremely deep sea, reaching nearly 3000 m. It also explains small islands like the Brothers. Steep-sided and far from land, they were probably thrown up by volcanic actions as the rift opened.
With around 1000 species of fish and 150 species of coral, the Red Sea
is rich in sea life. Water temperatures range from around 15°C in January,
to around 29°C in September."
As a leisure diver in the Red Sea you may prefer daily diving as opposed to live-aboard diving. This way you can choose when you want to dive and where. It may be a good option if you are travelling with your family, or if you simply fancy shore-based amenities such as: accommodation, dining, nightlife or other attractions.
Many reputable dive centers with high safety standards and good customer
service offer a varied selection of daily dive packages. Depending where
you are on the Red Sea, dive sites along the coastline and at nearby islands
and reefs can be reached within an hour and half by boat or car. A typical
full day excursion usually begins after breakfast with a morning dive.
After lunch, you may shift to another selected site, log a second dive
or maybe even a third dive before returning to the hotel later in the day.
That the Egyptian Red Sea offers the world's best scuba diving is already
well known:
superb visibility (up to 50 meters), abundant and diverse fish
life (over 1000 species), countless varieties of hard and soft coral (over
200 species), year-round diving in comfortable water temperatures (18° to
26° Celsius), incredibly diverse underwater topography, spectacular
wall and shipwreck destinations, sunny weather and pleasant air temperatures
(18° to 40° Celsius), and easy access to diving locations.
Whether a hopeful wannabe or expert diver, eight
year-old kid or sporting grandmother, diving can be experienced and
enjoyed by nearly everyone.
